FONTESTEAU: A WINERY PRACTICING ORGANIC AGRICULTURE

At Fontesteau, we cultivate quality.

We are cultivating our futures.

For several years, Château Fontesteau has implemented innovative practices inspired by sustainable development and organic agriculture, guided by a long-term vision and great ambition to protect and enrich the earth that welcomes us here in the Haut-Médoc. Our staff’s engagement has transformed the estate into a more responsable business, one respectful of its ecosystems. In 2017, the property took on a huge commitment by joining the System of Environmental Management of the wine of Bordeaux (SME).

Bringing in a management tool such as this demonstrates the desire, commitment and drive of the entire team through their adherence to the concrete actions required for the accreditation Haute Valeur Environnementale de niveau 3 (Level 3 High Environmental Value).

Multiple reasons for this commitment exist: protection of the site’s envionment and biodiversity, acknowledgement of the hard work of those involved in the everyday processes, and preservation of the longevity of economic activity in the Médoc. That is why the team pursues the creation of a sustainable brand, centered around the protection of site’s incredible nature, which will remain much longer than a life’s work. Every small decision we make is steered by the conviction that we are are working towards something larger than ourselves and that the value and results of our work will last far beyond our own lifetimes.

A diversified ecosystem.

We grow our wines according to organic agriculture principles as we believe that this is what is best for our soil, its micro-organisms, and for future generations.

Our vineyard is a living organism and we hold ourselves responsable for doing everything in our power to improve and enrich our soils, in order to promote a diversified, natural and thriving ecosystem.

It’s much more than just the geography of the soil that helps our land to thrive.
